Julius-K9 IDC Powerharness size chart, with how far back to measure

Julius-K9 uses its own size names, from Baby1 to Size 4, and measures girth a set number of fingers behind the front legs.

Published

Short answer: measure chest girth where the harness belly strap will sit, a few fingers behind the front legs, and match it to the Julius-K9 chart. Use girth first. Weight is a rough guide only.

Key takeaways

  • Julius-K9 sizes run Baby1, Baby2, Mini-Mini, Mini, then 0 to 4.
  • Its US support page says to measure two fingers behind the front legs for Baby1 and Baby2, three fingers for Mini-Mini and Mini, and four fingers for sizes 0 to 4.
  • Julius-K9’s FAQ warns that with improper sizing or harness adjustment, some dogs can still wriggle out of the harness.

Chart from the Julius-K9 IDC Powerharness size chart page. The girth ranges overlap, so many dogs fit two sizes.

When two sizes fit

Overlapping ranges mean a dog with a 30 in girth is inside Size 0, Size 1 and Size 2. Check the weight column for that dog. Our suggestion: pick the size where the girth sits nearer the middle of the range so the straps have room to adjust both ways.

Fit check after it is on

  • Julius-K9’s FAQ says to adjust the girth strap so that only your palm can slide between the harness lining and your dog’s back.
  • Your dog’s front legs should swing freely without the belly strap rubbing the armpits.
